Nature of Single Family Offices (SFOs)

How are Single Family Offices regulated in Singapore?

According to MAS (FAQs),

It is not The Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) intention to license or regulate Single Family offices (SFO).

SFOs can be exempted from licensing under the Securities and Futures Act (SFA) and the Financial Advisors Act (FAA) if it provides fund management and financial advisory services to related corporations.

If an SFO is not sure whether it is exempted from licensing requirements, the SFO may seek a licensing exemption from MAS under section 99(1)(h) of the SFA.
